Open Position: Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Due to a happy change in business circumstances, we are seeking to hire immediately another hard working individual with excellent legal, computer & organizational skills for a full-time legal assistant position.  Responsibilities of the position include: assisting attorneys with legal typing; file organization; opening and closing client files; assisting with preparation of legal documents, including pleadings and correspondence; responding to client requests; factual research relating to cases; production of reports and records under the direction from the attorney; and general assistance with management of attorneys' case loads.

Principal Accountabilities: Typing, scanning, maintaining client files, copying & faxing at the direction of attorneys.  Prepare legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence at the direction of attorneys. Request/secure necessary documents from others at the direction of the attorneys.  Respond to incoming calls, e-mails and correspondence from clients, attorneys, or others involved with the case and obtain information necessary to provide the appropriate response.  Enter relevant legal information into Time Matters, PC Law or any other electronic systems that are applicable to the clients and internal to the firm. Update and maintain various reports in order to facilitate attorney work flow.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year law firm experience or paralegal certificate required. 

  • Attention to detail in all aspects of work. 

  • Able and willing to follow detailed directions. 

  • Able to organize and prioritize tasks and work independently.

  • Able and willing to work closely with team members.

  • Strong preference given to applicants with Microsoft Access and/or Time Matters knowledge and experience. 

  • Able to manage workflow in a highly-active environment and communicate well with others. 

  • This is a computer-oriented and technical position.  Excellent PC skills are required, including:

    • MS Word

    • MS Excel

    • Outlook

    • Adobe Acrobat Professional Edition

  • Business professional appearance and attire required daily.

  • Must have dependable transportation.

Compensation:

Expected Salary Range for Beginning Legal Assistant: $27,500 - $33,500 commensurate with skills; competitive pay increases available as employee gains skills and knowledge.

Paid holidays, vacation, and sick time.
